 IT Professional (Sr. Applications & Training Analyst - Electronic Health Records)

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Summary: Under general direction, provides application & training support to University clinical departments; monitors various information system projects, upgrades, and development projects; provides support for the electronic system components, vendor interfaces, and end user support. Develops training approach and plan for the Electronic Health Record system (EHR) and provides training to personnel through multiple delivery methods which include on-site, Web-based, and classroom training; provides implementation coordination and oversees problem resolution as it relates to the EHR product; assesses end-user training needs and resources; works with clinical personnel to review policies and develop new workflows.

CHARACTERISTIC JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
May include any and/or all of the following:

1.     Participates in planning, selection, and installation of process changes and Electronic Health Records (EHR) clinical applications system design and set up; interfaces with vendors.

2.     Provides advanced end user support; responds to software application problems; reviews issue logs to identify software application problem patterns; tracks performance of vendor in resolving issues within target dates; plans and implements installation, upgrades, and development projects.

3.     Performs special projects; analyzes processes and related data to recommend automation improvements.

4.     Evaluates and recommends improvements to system software; serves as liaison between departments and software vendor for specific applications.

5.     Assesses and evaluates clinical personnel and uses of the EHR product; provides initial implementation training for the EHR system; assists EHR project manager with the implementation of practices, documentation, and clinical education and competency. Presents educational classes for EHR system job functions and other areas for the clinical departments and medical records personnel.

6.     Assesses end-user training needs and resources; develop training approach and plan, and learn products and associated processes.

7.     Develops training documentation, including system hierarchy, functional system responsibilities, and technical reports; develops job function tools and documentation.

8.     Works with department managers to review policies and develops new workflows; coordinates training resources and provides on-going end-user and new employee training.

9.     Participates in the EHR design and build sessions, tests the application, and documents the findings; maintains the EHR issues database; schedules training for implementation of a clinical department going live on the EHR system.

10.  Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and experience equivalent to:

Bachelor’s degree; supplemented with three (3) years of related work experience.
